long drive to work.
trip to target to get school supplies for b., who will start kindergarten in two weeks. his mom tried to take him yesterday but he said he wanted ME to take him "because l. knows where they have the cool stuff". hee.
took b. and j. to the grove - we made it as far as the tipi when a huge crack of thunder sounded - j. literally jumped into my arms and i had to pat him on the back to make sure he was breathing - he was terrified - the poor little guy. we ran back to the lodge and amused ourselves watching the turtles and making medallions in the "smash the penny" machine then decided to make a run for the car.
as soon as we were all in and ready to go j. piped up from his car seat with "that was a close one, l." i had to laugh.
while j. napped, b. and i continued our lessons on space and he made a rocket out of old boxes and junk we pulled out of the recycling bin. i told b. i like teaching him because i always learn something new too and he gave me the classic "yeah right" face but i think i finally convinced him i wasn't joking.
b. and i also took a trip out in the rain in our bare feet to splash in the grass and the street - we floated leaves down the gutter until the rain started coming down harder and we had to go back inside.
when i was getting ready to leave this evening, their mom and dad invited me to stay for dinner and b. piped up with a "oh yes oh yes, please?" - when i tried to say no thank you he started crying- which is not like him - so i stayed.
came home to find letters from two of my favorite people and will now pour myself a drink and read...
