i had the misfortune of being in a neighborhood bar last night where there were two large tvs blaring abc's overwrought, maudlin sept.11th coverage. turning human suffering into a tv spectacle seems to be a uniquely american talent and i was embarassed for everyone involved in what i saw last night. in my opinion, that kind of media overkill actually serves to distance people from what was a massive, horrific human tragedy. yuck.
