yesterday afternoon i escorted a 5-year-old race car driver and his brother, the bedgraggled, crabby 3-year-old Batman on their trick-or-treating rounds. they were both tired, miffed that they had to wear coats over their costumes, and after about two houses, Batman demanded that he be carried. the good news? there were virtually no other trick or treaters on their block, so people were giving them handfuls of candy. so, after about a half-hour, their plastic pumpkins were full and we went home. after which time their parents came home and i got to leave them to deal with the candy negotiations and resultant spaz attacks.
