drove into the city to ride the el (a big thrill for kids); then back to the 'burbs for lunch at a restaurant where a toy train delivers your food. on the way home we stopped at walgreen's to develop the pics we took at the dolphin show - we bought a bunch of boxes of colored lights and came home and strung them up in the kids' bedrooms - i tried to fashion a colored-light dolphin on the ceiling of the older kid's room but it looks kind of like an adenoidal fish. oh well, he liked it.
tonight, friends of my employer showed up with their kids for an impromptu pizza party, which meant the kids ate pizza and tore up the playroom while the ladies and i ate pasta and drank beer in the living room. the fringe benefits in this job just never stop. seriously.
the parents come home tomorrow night and shortly after that i will be flying down the highway back into the city as soon as i can.
