It's warm out tonight and there are a lot of people out on the street...lots of kids, mostly, which is a welcome respite from the parade o' gangbangers...

Ice cream truck season has begun...my favorite is one that plays the "Blue Danube" on a warped tape loop -- it sounds really sinister, especially at night. The weirdest one I've heard plays hip-hop midi music with synthesized clapping that's interrupted periodically by a woman's voice saying "Hel-lo!". But the best ice cream comes from the paleteros who walk down the street pushing their little freezer carts...
