The return to the scene of the crime.
~~~
Fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, boiled cabbage and carrots cooked by the crazy hotel proprietor. The only other guest was a guy who was there recuperating from a near-fatal car wreck a month ago, who told us a lot of good jokes.
~~~
Lots of nice scenery.
~~~
Lots of gravy and BLT's, too.
The wire man made by S. as we walked along the Llano River, which we posed in a "conquering Everest" way on a huge rock, then left for some lucky kid or hiker to find. (I will post pics of this later.)
~~~
A slow drive along the Willow City Loop...which consists of 13 miles of single-lane road through private ranch land. Some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen in this state. We saw lots of cows, a wild turkey and a little white-tailed deer.
~~~
Almost breaking into a few abandoned buildings. (Including an abandoned jailhouse that had an unlocked window; we decided that someone in the nearby houses would probably see us and chickened out.)
~~~
Sex in the woods on our way back to Austin. (After scoping out several not-private-enough recreational areas we found a nice little wooded hill on the Colorado River.)
~~~
Post-sex rock hunting which yielded two excellent fossils of a trilobite and some kind of worm.
~~~
Hovering birds and the metallic sound of seed pods shaking in the wind.
~~~
Taking time to appreciate how the universe smiled down upon us one year ago today.
