Happy Mondays. [ 2004-11-15, 9:26 p.m. ]

Today S. and I spent a lovely day together doing nothing but eating and driving around town. And we did some drinking. And I took a bazillion pictures with my new camera.

One of our stops was the Blue Bonnet Court on Guadalupe. I was perusing the National Register of Historic Places website last week (because that's what geeks do) and came across a listing for this motor court, built in 1925 and until the 1950's a popular stop for visitors to Austin. It's basically a by-the-week flophouse now. The city is trying to wrest it away from its current owners (the heinous hovel-runners Aimco) in order to restore it to its original beauty. Austin has a wonderful record of buying old properties from slumlords and developers in order to preserve and restore the city's history.
I only got a few pictures because we were run off by a resident who (quite understandably) was not happy to see strangers roaming around taking pictures of his home.

Here's a picture of the entryway and sign:

We also made a stop at my beloved Poodle Dog Lounge, which features several crudely-executed poodle signs, among them this fine fellow:
