Sunday morning coming down. [ 2005-05-22, 8:34 a.m. ]

Forgot to mention the other big news of the week: my employer went into early labor and delivered charge #2 on Friday afternoon. The baby is fine despite being about a month early and they should be home this weekend. The older charge is handling it pretty well - his first reaction when shown pics of the new brother was: "He's a naked baby!". Upon actually meeting the new bro., he was decidedly indifferent.

Had a weird scare at around 2:30 am. I woke up and for some reason looked out our bedroom window and saw a guy walking up to the house. I woke S. and we went into the hallway and watched him look into our living room window then heard him trying the front door. S. opened the door and confronted him and he gave us some bullshit story about thinking our house was his friend's house, that he had a key to this "friend"'s house and that's why he tried the door. (He didn't know his friend's address or name, oddly enough.) Very creepy. I've definitely let my city-girl guard go down a few points since moving here and we routinely leave our living room curtains open or semi-open at night. No more.

In other news, Miss Maisy is so cute I want to eat her. Our older cat is tolerating her very well, considering the fact that Maisy tears through the house like a bat out of hell for hours at a time. I haven't had a kitten in a long time and had forgotten what complete spaz-balls they can be. More on finding her: S. and I were taking out the trash late last Sunday night and heard a pitiful cry, then Maisy came charging at us from the field across the street. We made a half-hearted effort at locating her owner but have since decided she's ours. The oddest/best thing about her is that she looks like a cross between Koko and Casper, the two cats we lost last year.

In other-other news, the temperature has been in the mid-high 90's for the past week and is expected to be at least that bad for the next seven days. I don't like this. Luckily, S. has a private catering job in Chicago on Memorial Day and I get to go with him, so we should have a respite, weather-wise.
