I just stepped into the alley behind my building to throw out the trash...and saw the most feared sight known to residents of my block...the SBC/Ameritech truck. Every time they work on the wires here, I end up with either crossed wires or no phone service...the guy who lives in the building two doors down from me and I have had a shared line no less than four times in the past year...it's ridiculous.

Between SBC and the post office, living here is kind of like living in the pricey pocket of a third-world country...
