I mentioned in the deleted entry that I took younger charge to his preschool orientation today. He attends a religious school and when we pulled into the parking lot, the first thing I noticed were the concrete barricades blocking the front door and side entrances - new since last year. J. was oblivious, but as we were walking in we saw his friend E., who blithely announced, "Hey J., these are to keep people from blowing us up in school!"; to which J. answered, "Really? Cool!" and continued on his way.
